How Do I Connect My ButtKicker System to My Bose Audio System?

April 15th, 2010 by Marvin Clamme

Q. How do I connect my ButtKicker shaker system to my Bose audio system? It does not have any “Subwoofer” output… (This question also applies to many other brand sound systems.)

A. Even though a “subwoofer” output is preferred because it is already limited to low frequencies, any analog audio output can be used.

Most, but not all, Bose systems have a separate “Audio Out” similar to that seen in the graphic. You can follow the ButtKicker shaker system directions as though this “Audio Out” (either Left or Right; your choice) was a “Subwoofer” output.

Two points that make this connection different in practice:

1) The audio coming out this output is full range audio – it has not only the low frequencies, but all frequencies. Therefore you will want to be sure to use the HiCut (Low Pass) filter included in the ButtKicker system. (On the BKA300 amplifier, the ‘Game’ setting includes a HiCut filter set at 100Hz.)

2) The level of this type of output is not controlled by the Bose Volume Control. So if the speaker system level is changed, the ButtKicker system level will need to be changed separately to keep the two systems in the desired balance.

ButtKicker Gamer Re-launched!

October 16th, 2009 by Randy Mullins

After almost a year, we are very happy to announce that the ButtKicker Gamer is going to be back in stock for the holidays.  This updated version (ButtKicker Gamer2) sports some critical updates, and others that simply add convenience.

The biggest update to the re-launched ButtKicker Gamer2 is the all-new, rock-solid digital amplifier.

The new BKA-130-C power amplifier is nearly half the size and weight of the old one. It’s also ultra-quiet since there’s no fan. Additionally, it has a wired remote control so that you can stash it out of sight and still operate its basic functions.

We are well aware that a new amplifier was needed for the ButtKicker Gamer2, so we went to great lengths and rigorous testing to ensure that the BKA-130-C was up to it. Click here to check what makes this amplifier so reliable and to read what our beta-testers have to say about it.

If you’re unfamiliar with the ButtKicker Gamer, check out the product page on ButtKicker Direct to learn about what it does. http://www.buttkickergear.com/product_p/bk-gr.htm

For this year’s holiday season we were only able to get a very limited quantity, so we re-launched the Gamer2 with a pre-order that is available now through Nov. 8th. Put $25 down on the ButtKicker Gamer2 now and pay the rest when we ship it to you around the end of Nov. 09.
